At the dawn of the Xyz era we witnessed the mighty Plant Synchro strategy come to an end. Spore and Glow-Up Bulb - the deck's best Tuners – were both exiled to the Forbidden List. Flash forward several years and today we're finally seeing the entire five-card engine back in action! Two Lonefire Blossom, Dandylion, Spore, and Glow-Up Bulb are back again for at least one format, and duelists everywhere are scrambling to fit them into any deck they can. Our Card of the Week today, Glow-Up Bulb, is arguably the best Plant of the bunch. Once per duel you can mill one card to Special Summon it right from your graveyard, letting you make multiple Synchro Monsters for absolutely free. It's truly insane.
But what can play it? Well, anything that's been using Plants or Tuner engines should probably try and squeeze in Glow-Up Bulb. Sylvans are a prime candidate, already running a variety of Plant support. Mythic Dragon Rulers are also super cool because you can string together two Level 8 Synchros back-to-back off of two Dragon Rulers and a Glow-Up Bulb. You could also try it out in tons of other themes like Zombies, Lightsworns, Monarchs, or even Shaddolls!
Many players thought this pesky Level 1 would never see the light of day again, but its new Limited status means you'll probably see Synchro Monsters everywhere! Have you picked up a copy yet? If you're considering any of the aforementioned decks I'd advise giving it a shot.
