Let talk about Shimmerwing Chimera.

Sure, in Limited it's playable. But what about Standard? Is it a budget alternative to Thassa, Deep-Dwelling, or a terrible card you really shouldn't play?

Well... it's kinda both.

Shimmerwing Chimera lacks most of the abilities that make Thassa so appealing, like indestructibilty, flickering creatures for no mana cost, tapping down opposing creatures, and a body that blocks Lovestruck Beast. But, in its own little way, Chimera does give you extra value from enters-the-battlefield triggers on enchantments.

In a deck with Oath of Kaya, Omen of the Sea, The Birth of Meletis and Treacherous Blessing, maybe that's enough.
