Hello and welcome to another addition of Droppin' Baums! This week we are looking at a very powerful shell. Most decks have a rough time beating BOTH of the top two decks in the format, but I do believe this deck has great game against control shells and Mono-Red Experiment decks. Being able to have so much card advantage mixed with powerful and tough to deal with threats is a very dangerous combination. Let's check out this spicy number!

This deck is all about getting a powerful Drake or Dragon down and then protecting it. Most of the time it only takes two attack steps to close out a game once a creature lives. That's big game for creatures that are hard to kill because they have at least four toughness.

This deck does have one serious weakness, though: The Eldest Reborn. Being able to play a spell that comes down and deals with Niv-Mizzet, Parun and gets it back and doesn't trigger Niv-Mizzet, Parun's ability is super strong. That also means that planeswalkers like Teferi, Hero of Dominaria, and Ral, Izzet Viceroy have the same kind of devastating impact. Besides those weaknesses, I think the deck has game against everything.

It's still early and there are about 100 different decks popping up right now, (which is awesome) so it's not easy to write a guide for every matchup but I will list the big ones. Let's check out the sideboard guide!

Sideboard Guide

Red Aggro

This matchup is all about stemming the bleeding. Being able to kill enough early creatures till you can drop a big Drake or set up a Deafening Clarion turn to blow them out.

Green Creature Decks

Being able to have access to so many ways to destroy there whole board is super important. This should be a very good matchup.

Control

This matchup is a nice one. We just have so much more value going on than they do. Niv-Mizzet, Parun on turn seven backed up by a Dive Down is almost game over as well. Even if they fight through that and can kill it, they are behind so many cards.

I had a blast with this one and I have so many sweet ideas for the coming weeks. New Standard is just the most exciting thing to be a part of. A Lot of different strategies are very good and nothing seems to be unplayable. It's a great time to be brewing up some Baums! I have big plans, along with some special guests in the coming weeks. Thanks for watching!

See you next week,
