This'll be a bit of a different one.

The constraint of these decks is they're nominally built around the color identity and mechanics of the Planeswalker. But Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter isn't a terribly long-lived Planeswalker, and that ability is well suited towards mana fixing—which we generally wouldn't have use for in a deck that's only one color.

So, the challenge becomes: What can we do to care about multiple colors of mana in a one-color deck, and is there any way we can somehow involve +1/+1 counters as well?

Thankfully, the Wayback Machine gave me an idea from back in 2004…

The Game Plan

We're going all the way back to Fifth Dawn to get our Sunburst on! We have several artifacts here that are ok, but they go from good to great if we can get some other mana colors involved, or get some proliferate shenanigans going on.

Skyreach Manta are the heavy hitters, but Suntouched Myr are the normal workhorses. Etched Oracle will keep the cards flowing, and if we can proliferate enough to get a pair of activations out of one of them, we'll be in great shape. Opaline Bracers let our troops punch up, while Infused Arrows and Heliophial steal combats for us.

To enable this Sunburst chicanery, we've got some mana fixing to help us out. Orochi Leafcaller gives us a sympathetic exchange rate, while Abundant Growth, Song of Freyalise, Pentad Prism, and Dawn's Reflection follow up on the spell front. Cave of Temptation fixes our mana for a little surcharge, or provides some extra counters somewhere. And Timberland Ruins and Tinder Farm provide a short burst of fixing.

Other than the Sunburst package, we're looking to take advantage of some +1/+1 counters. Pollenbright Druid either dishes out a counter early, or proliferates late. New addition Duskshell Crawler provides some early defense, makes sure Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter is protected, and allows our heavy hitters later to connect via some trampling. Barkhide Troll is our best two-drop on paper, and if we can keep +1/+1 counters around him, it'll ensure his protection. Ivy Lane Denizen keeps our beaters strong while Armorcraft Judge makes sure the cards keep flowing.

We don't have much removal here. It's a mono-green deck, so this shouldn't come as too much of a shock. So it's vital we take good care of things like Infused Arrows when we do have them. Try not to take all the counters off of it so we have something left to proliferate and build back up for future uses.

The Rares

(Remember, because our planeswalker is uncommon, there are five rares here instead of the usual four.)

When Fifth Dawn was making its debut, Joiner Adept was THE chase rare hyped up by the community. About two weeks after Fifth Dawn hit the shelves and people actually got the chance to play, the Joiner Adept was consigned to the junk bins. Those who invested in it early never brought it up again. You see, things just used to be different. Mana fixing these days is a quantum leap ahead of where it was in 2004. We basically had the Ice Age/Apocalypse Painlands, and Dual Lands if you were an old timer. Keep in mind, comes-into-play tapped lands like Coastal Tower were very highly regarded and also unusual.

About three months after Joiner Adept came out, the dual lands we got in Kamigawa ( like Cloudcrest Lake) were just reprints of the same underwhelming options from Tempest (like Thalakos Lowlands). My point is, mana fixing back then was poor, and players were excited to see a new potential option that seemed reminiscent of Birds of Paradise. Once it sunk in that the Joiner Adept couldn't actually accelerate or produce mana on its own, it got the axe. But here, the Joiner Adept gets a chance to shine. With it in play, our Sunburst shenanigans are fully unlocked and facilitated. We'd love to see this every game.

Our goal is to get this guy on the board, then double his counters a few times. There's not much nuance here—we're just trying to buff him up enough to make him a heavy hitter, and then hit with him a few times.

A poor man's Visara the Dreadful. It also hits extremely hard, and can reset if we don't have anything else to do. There's not too much to say here—if we untap with this guy in play, things should look great for us. That can be difficult because it's a nine-mana spell. But we've got some ram, so I'm confident we can live that dream.

This may look mopey, but if we can gain five life a turn—every turn—for no mana, it'll be very difficult for our opponents to kill us. And obviously the more often we're able to proliferate, the further this puts us out of our opponent's reach.

If you've been reading this column series with any regularity, you'll know I love a modal spell. And this one lets us choose any four with repeats! Very exciting. I think it's most likely we'll be proliferating a bunch, or making a pile of Citizen tokens, but recurring something potent like an Etched Oracle or gaining some life could put us in a great spot. This is a well done Modal effect in my opinion. None of the four options seems particularly impressive, but the versatility and different combinations make it potent.

Unsung Hero

If you played any Limited in Dominaria, you'd probably remember this as the card they somehow gave an uncommon symbol. It hasn't made much of a splash otherwise, but here it does everything we'd want. Some of those early creatures can generate the extra colors we need for our rad Sunburst cards, and then we get some +1/+1 counters around to fuel proliferate hijinks. Oh and one messed up combat phase.
