Wizards of the Coast continues to provide pleasant surprises to players, even those not necessarily into the Commander Legends previews. Amidst a slew of new cards previewed today for CMR, Wizards revealed the card list for Kaladesh Remastered, the old-but-new Historic-only set for MTG Arena releasing on November 12th.
As with Amonkhet Remastered, the previous "Remastered" set on Arena, this new set contains a smattering of cool and interesting cards from the two sets associated with the setting. In this case, we will be getting cards from Kaladesh and Aether Revolt, as well as Sculpting Steel in a Masterpiece frame styled after the Kaladesh Inventions series of super-rare cards.
Speaking of the Kaladesh Inventions series, a fair few cards from Kaladesh and Aether Revolt, including the Gearhulk cycle, Paradox Engine, and Planar Bridge are getting alternate art versions based on their Invention counterparts. The frames seem to be the same as their original versions, however, as evidenced by the card image gallery on DailyMTG.
Also like Amonkhet Remastered, Kaladesh Remastered will be releasing many strong cards from the two associated sets in all rarities. There will be cards geared not only for Historic proper, but also Historic Brawl. All of the planeswalker cards from the two sets will be available in the remaster, as will many different legendary creatures and some support for a few notable decks within Historic Brawl such as Dark Intimations for Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God. Does this mean that Historic Brawl will be made more open to players on a regular basis? Right now, it's too early to tell, but this feels like a good indicator of things to come.
How will these cards impact Historic? As a build-up to Pioneer on MTGArena, Kaladesh Remastered will hit Historic pretty hard, but not quite as hard as Jumpstart did. That said, you might want to consider getting some extra artifact removal spells to prepare for the coming surge of artifact-centric deck lists. We know we will.
