Let me rephrase that: you'll have a hard time finding an Abyss Actorduelist, period. And you know what? I'd bet good money most people couldn'tname any Abyss Actor cards outside of Abyss Actor - Curtain Raiser. Truthbe told, I guarantee a fair number of readers don't know what any of thecards do.
I wasn't a dedicated Abyss Actor player myself; I never bothered toconsider the deck until Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna was released inLegendary Duelists: White Dragon Abyss. But that card mayrepresent a reversal of trends for the entire Abyss Actor theme, so thestrategy's been working its way onto my radar.
Let's see what today's contributor submitted to us from Michigan, and whathe has to say about the deck he sent us...
As much as I wanted to do theater in high school, I never had thechance because I ran cross country and track. That said, playingAbyss Actors makes me feel like I'm part of a traveling troupe ofactors, though I don't think I look as goofy as any of the castmembers. What I like about them is that they're giving Dark Fiendsa good name instead of the fire and brimstone we're used to withBurning Abyss.
Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna is the best card in the deck, and Iconsidered playing Emerging Emergency Rescute Rescue, but not beingable to use my Extra Deck crushed my spirit. It was farewell toRescue Hamster, and hello to Mellow Madonna! Right now, Eater ofMillions is always going to banish whatever I have from my ExtraDeck since I never go into it, so I didn't bother listing anythingfor that.
-J.C. P. ~ Clearwater, MI
Summoning restrictions are often balanced, but incredibly annoying whenyou're trying to assemble combos, and J.C. is right that Abyss Actor -Mellow Madonna puts you in a pinch.
Let's see what he did to compensate for that.
I've gotta say, I was expecting something beyond a "Choose Your OwnAdventure" for the Extra Deck. That's kind of a new one, though I can seewhere J.C. was coming from.
Rest assured, though: for this deck fix, Eater of Millions is out and ExtraDeck monsters are in.
It Was The Worst Of Support, It Was The Best Of Support
If you take a sterile bird's eye view at Abyss Actors, you'll see the deckwas engineered to stay in house with monsters, spells, and traps. MostAbyss Actor cards rely exclusively on other Abyss Actor and Abyss Scriptcards, and Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna takes that a step further byrestricting your Special Summons to only Abyss Actors.
Without any Abyss Actor Link Monsters or Xyz, you're mostly looking to beatdown your opponent with big monsters and to pepper various Abyss Scriptinto your plans. Beyond that you can annihilate your opponent's forces withAbyss Script - Rise of the Abyss King.
Thankfully, the Abyss Actors often search each other and they tend to workreally well in tandem, so you don't have to worry about playing a bunch ofcards that lack synergy. Abyss Actor - Superstar fetches your Abyss Scriptcards while Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna fetches your monsters, and evenwith their restrictions, you'll have lots of aggressive power with which topush for damage.
Furthermore, cards like Abyss Actor - Comic Relief provide spot removalwhen sheer attack power won't get the job done. But even with the recursionand firepower, I feel like the deck's missing something. Sure, MellowMadonna has 2500 defense and Abyss Actor - Wild Hope brings out anotherAbyss Actor post mortem, but there isn't much you can do after you've done, well, whatever it is you can do given thesituation.
Abyss Actor - Mellow Madonna restricts your Special Summons after you useits effect, but there's a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh! to play before you use itsability. With several Level 7 monsters at your disposal you have somereally powerful options. You can easily segue into Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragonand Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon, or why not start the duel with HeavymetalfoesElectrumite?

Since J.C.'s already playing Terraforming and Abyss Playhouse - FantasticTheater, adding Dragon Ravine and Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm is a goodway to get easy access to Heavymetalfoes Electurmite, or sometimes in theworst case scenarios, Abyss Actor - Curtain Raiser and Darkwurmtranslates to Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir for an earlystart. By not having those defensive cards in your deck, you're settingyourself up for mediocre Turn 1's. And there's one more key to the puzzle.
Piece to the puzzle? Key to the keyhole? That's a dumb phrase, but I'mtalking about big Tribute Summons, which the original version of this deckis missing.
The first option that came to mind for me was Mist Valley Apex Avian. It'swalking – er – flying negation that can be Pendulum Summoned ifyou're lucky, but it also works well as a Tribute Summon after you useMellow Madonna's effect. I won't go through every permutation of what youcan and can't do with your Abyss Actors, but needless to say when you'regoing first, you'll often find yourself holding a bunch of extra AbyssActors with no good plays to use them for.
Abyss Script - Abysstainment and Abyss Actor - Superstar return yardedAbyss cards, but what if you haven't used any on your first turn? I mean, Iguess you can go out of your way to get back Abyss Script - OpeningCeremony, but at the cost of tributing monsters that seems over the top.Mist Valley Apex Avian combined with Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon is quitelethal, and did I mention it can be Pendulum Summoned?
For single Tribute Monsters, good ole Vanity's Fiend saves the day. SinceAbyss Playhouse - Fantastic Theater stymies monster effects, Vanity's Fiendtook precedence over Majesty's Fiend to shut down your opponent. Chancesare if you block one monster effect per turn and then prevent your opponentfrom Special Summoning, you're on your way to victory outside of a MindControl or Raigeki.
If you wanted to really go off the rails, there are plenty of otherhigh-Level monsters you could Tribute Summon too, and some are evensearchable. You could make an argument for Light and Darkness Dragon,Archlord Kristya, and even Erebus the Underworld Monarch, but ultimately Iwanted something with even more pizazz. If you want to assume a deeperfocus on Field Spells, I highly suggest Metaltron XII, the TrueDracombatant. And no, I'm not joking.
Since you can tribute off your Abyss Script Continuous Spells, Metaltron'ssearchable, virtually indestructible, and you'd get something like NaturiaExterio when it dies. I don't think it's that crazy.
No Baby Drama Mama For This Llama
Since I'm gearing the deck towards more defense early on some Abyss Actorsfall by the wayside. Abyss Actor - Extras does search Mellow Madonna, butit also consumes your Normal Summon most of the time and that cuts out anyTribute Summons you may want to make.
While it's sure neat-o-rific to destroy your set Abyss Script cards withAbyss Playhouse, why not Waking the Dragon? That's a legit question, notrhetorical: if you can do that on your first turn, then chances are goodyou've won. Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon's literally that good, and somedecks don't have any way to deal with it.
What? Did you want me to say something more about that? It's really thatsimple, but you can toy around with the idea a bit more to field othermonsters. Why not go with The Last Warrior from Another Planet orRaidraptor - Ultimate Falcon? I think both have merit, because whileUltimate Falcon's unbeatable, it can't stop burn decks like Trickstars.
Normally I'd like Abyss Actors' Curtain Call, but it's not as good here asI first thought it might be. You can use it after Abyss Playhouse -Fantastic Theater forces the destruction of an Abyss Script, but if you'reblowing up your own cards, you might as well blow up Waking the Dragon. Idon't mean to belabor the point, but Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon isprobably going to be better than whatever Abyss Actor troupe you call in.
As I stated early I'm actually adding an Extra Deck to J.C.'s build, albeitwith some extremely funky choices, so I'm going to take out Eater ofMillions. Honestly, Abyss Actor - Comic Relief gives a strong showing asspot removal, and between Heavymetalfoes Electrumite and Odd-Eyes VortexDragon, I'd rather have extra tools in my back pocket.

I'm the ultimate hoarder of niche card effects and I often go to greatlengths to account for situations that will never happen, but I draw theline at some of the Abyss Actors. In theory, Abyss Actor - Funky Comedianand Abyss Actor - Trendy Understudy will win you games by pushing youthrough your opponent's forces, and searching that kind of thing can beuseful. But you might as well just throw your cards away when you naturallydraw into stuff like that… especially if you're going first.
In short, you don't want to clog your hands with lesser cards early on,especially if they won't accomplish anything defensive or substantial. Inaddition to Abyss Actor - Curtain Raiser, I added Supreme King DragonDarkwurm to field another Pendulum monster for your early HeavymetalfoesElectrumite. Your duels won't totally hinge on that singular card, but ifyou can at least use it to dig through your deck to search Abyss Actor -Mellow Madonna then it did its job.
Here are the total changes I made to J.C.'s deck:
-3 Eater of Millions
-1 Abyss Actor - Trendy Understudy
-2 Abyss Actor – Evil Heel
-3 Abyss Actor – Extras
-1 Abyss Actor – Funky Comedian
-1 Abyss Actor – Sassy Rookie

As I said before, the Extra Deck was sort of a playground for me, withenough room to use Synchros with Destrudo the Last Dragon's Frisson; eitheras an extender towards your Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon, or a stepping stone toF.A. Dawn Dragster. With such Little Defense in the deck beyond the"perfect" opening hand, a more melded strategy's ultimately stronger in thelong run.
What I found I liked most about the Extra Deck is how few cards I feltobligated to play. Despite the heavily theme-stamped nature of the AbyssActor cards, there's actually more wiggle room in this strategy's ExtraDeck than in the majority of the decks I work with.
If you're partial to Number 42: Galaxy Tomahawk as a segue into SaryujaSkull Dread, go for it. Clean slates are fun to play around with, and AbyssActors are the perfect place for you to try out your spicy tech.
Just remember: beat your opponents before they beat you.

-Your Main and Extra Deck list. (No Side Deck needed, but please send awritten deck list, not a screencap; screencapped deck lists will befiled and then burned in the furnace accordingly… and your deck shouldbe TCG legal).
-Your name and city.
-Remember, please use full card names! Abbrevs and mis-sipllngs makeLoukas' life sad. Try your darndest to get the TCG name on there.
-A paragraph or two describing your deck: what it does, why you'replaying it, and its strengths and weaknesses. "Winning" is not astrategy per se, and neither is "beating your opponents before theybeat you."
-Your favorite card from the build and why – make me fall in love withthe deck! The cooler your strategy the more I'll want to fix it, and ifyou throw in funny jokes, that'll surely get my attention too; bewarned, unfunny jokes will push your deck to the back of the stack.Don't be afraid to get creative!
