The Tribute Summon is the OG enhanced Summoning mechanic, predating Link Summoning, Xyz Summoning, Synchro Summoning, and even Ritual Summoning. High-Level Tribute monsters are some of the biggest icons representing the game - cards like Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician - and are internationally recognizable, crossing borders of language and culture.

But nobody plays them.

The Tribute Summoning mechanic is enshrined with flaws, inherent problems that later forms of Summoning were largely designed to fix. And these days, the only recent Tribute Summoning themes have to jump through a ton of hoops to make Tributes relevant.
