Rogue decks are always a hot point for debate and discussion; a lot of emotions tend to flare because there are lots of different perspectives. Some players will never play a deck unless it's a proven tournament winner, preparing to stick with the acknowledged strategy they think gives them the best chance to win. Others abhor playing popular decks, and would rather play something they feel to be more creative. And still others believe that there are real competitive advantages if you can find the right deck at the right time, and smash your opponents with something they aren't prepared for.

Doug managed to take back-to-back Top Cut finishes at UDS Indianapolis and YCS Portland with Altergeists, but he's played a ton of different decks over the course of his dueling career. He's learned a lot of lessons along the way, and today he shares his point of view in answering the question: what does it take to succeed with a rogue deck?
